"When Praises Goes Up.." is an an original oil painting on 12"x24" canvad board. This painting was inspired by a statement I often heard in church, "when praises goes up, blessings come down". The gesture of the singer's outstretch hand is painted to pull the viewer upward in what I consider to be the greatest exchange...a blessing for praise. The best part is you don't know when or how your blessing may come, but faith teaches us that it will be what you need and it will be right on time.

"The Book Club III" is an an original acrylic painting on 23"x30" rag paper. This painting was inspired by a digital image I created for a group of scrap book collectors (Scrap of Color). The contour line and shapes in the composition are intended to provoke conversations as often seen in a book club. To view more art go to www.fineartbyrobertjackson.com. James Arthur Baldwin (August 2, 1924 – December 1, 1987) was born to Emma Berdis Jones who had left Baldwin's biological father because of his drug abuse. She moved to Harlem where Baldwin was born in Harlem Hospital in New York. By the time Baldwin had reached adolescence, he had discovered his passion for writing. His educators deemed him gifted, and in 1937, at the age of 13. Baldwin said, "I knew I was black, of course, but I also knew I was smart. I didn't know how I would use my mind, or even if I could, but that was the only thing I had to use." Balwin was an American novelist, playwright, essayist, poet, and activist. His essays, as collected in Notes of a Native Son (1955), explore intricacies of racial, sexual, and class distinctions in Western society, most notably in regard to the mid-twentieth-century United States.

"Oprah Winfrey" was a painting requested for a project I'm working on. This painting is an oil painting on 8x10 canvas Board. This was somewhat a challenge for me because I usually don't paint smaller than 16x20, especially when it comes to portraits. I am so intrigued with all the colors, tones, plains, shapes and textures with in the human face and figure that I usually work large so everything is visible. Although this project was very different than what I normally do, I enjoyed painting it.

Oprah Gail Winfrey (born Orpah Gail Winfrey;January 29, 1954) is an American talk show host, television producer, actress, author, and philanthropist. She is best known for her talk show, The Oprah Winfrey Show, broadcast from Chicago, which was the highest-rated television program of its kind in history and ran in national syndication for 25 years, from 1986 to 2011. Dubbed the "Queen of All Media,” she was the richest African American of the 20th century was once the World's only Black billionaire and the greatest Black philanthropist in U.S. history. By 2007, she was sometimes ranked as the most influential woman in the world.
